Can you imagine the wear and tear on the feet of service members who might carry more than 120 pounds of gear on their backs in a variety of extreme conditions? Join orthopedic surgeons Marlene DeMaio of the Veterans Health Administration and Kathleen McHale, Professor of Surgery at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences, to learn about the evolution of military footwear, and the effects on the foot by carrying heavy loads. They will explore the rates and types of military injuries to the foot as well as military medicine's approach to protecting and caring for the foot.
FREE! Open to the public. No RSVP required.
