Three giants of 19th century American art and literature witnessed Civil War medicine firsthand and portrayed it in their works. Join NMHM volunteer docent Elizabeth Tebow as she discusses the paintings, poems, and essays of Winslow Homer, Walt Whitman and Louisa May Alcott that depict their experiences with Civil War medicine. The perspectives of these three artists provide valuable insight into an important period in the evolution of military medicine in American history.
